The 14th Fina World Masters Championships
Comline Greece to join the Championship
The 14th Fina World Masters Championships took place in Riccione, Italy. Around 13000 athletes joined to compete. Around 10000 swimmers, 2400 open water swimmers, 1400 water polo players, 580 synchronized swimmers, 270 divers. Located inside the "Italo Nicoletti" Sports Centre, the "Swimming Stadium" of Riccione can be considered one of the finest and most functional swimming facility in Italy. Built to host national and international events it also offers quiet spots for relaxing.
Our sales man Dimitris Lygouras was the only Greek athlete, competing with the colours of Ydraikos Swimming Club and supported by Comline. On the 13th of June Dimitris participated in 50m freestyle and took 7th competing with professional athletes and former Olympic medallists.
In this effort he was not alone as he had great help from his family, his coach Aspasia Papadaki and his nutritionist Tonia Machaira, both former Greek swimming champions.
After reaching the final board by the last open water swimmer, it was time for the closing ceremony. The Major of Riccione, Massimo Pironi, the President of the Organising Committee and of Pol. Com. Riccione, Giuseppe Solfrini, the President of the Italian Federation and Fina Honorary Secretary, Paolo Barelli and the Fina Master Committee Chairman, Edward Evelly gave the Fina flag to Daniel Leduc, member of Montreal 2014 Organising Committee.
